The main protagnist in our sequence is a female teen, aged around 16/17. She is presented as a calm and reserved individual who keeps herself to herself and takes great interest in her religious lifestyle. Some would say that In a way she somehow greatly subverts the general stereotype for the original everyday teen as for they are usually the total opposite of what this character is. They are generally hyper and dramatic yet our character is opposite this.
An example of the expectant behaviour of an everyday teen is in Legally Blonde. The main female protaganist, who is around the same age as our character is somewhat obsessive of the way she looks and favours her fashionable "party" lifestyle. This is extremely parrallel to our character considering the fact that all she cares about is her religion an wishes to remain peacful within herself and the church. Therefore this would challenge this particular media product but on the otherhand, it perfectly develops it overall. For instiance, in Legally Blonde you instantly make the assumption that the main character will lack common sense and not be very intelluctual. This is also the same in our product as you instantly assume our character is of "normal" mental health yet this is definitely not the case when it is revealed that she hears continous unwated voices. The fact that she goes agaisnt the audiences expectations is a comparision to legally blonde when she subverts all asumptions of her being 'ditsy' and lacking common sense but in realtiy she ends up becoming a lawyer.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Our media product can be compared and contrasted to several different real media products. For example: in terms of film titles alone, our title being "Misunderstood" automatically poses a question to the audience as to 'why' and 'who' is misunderstood. This cannot be said for many other film titles. The one word title adjective "Misunderstood" can be compared to the film title "Disturbia" as this also leaves the audiece questioning 'who' and/or 'what' is disturbed.
Our sequence storyline is based upon a religious girl who is over ridden by voices inside her head. As previously stated several times before this connotes extreme religious aspects and personal mental health issues. The storyline to our sequence is far from simple and is based upon a series of complex ideas. This requires great understanding from the audience. This storyline in a way can be compared to the film "The Da Vinci Code" as this is also based on a series of relgious features which have to be discovered by the audience as they aren't obvious. On terms of the high complexity of our storyline, this would evidently challenge the majority of real everyday common media products as they are usually straightforward and require to mental though from the audience.
